Clean up services acceptable; contracting services problematic; poor customer service
After a fire in our home, we hired Kleen King as both the restoration company and the contractor for the remodel. When it came to the restoration, they were prompt and initially courteous - the house was cleaned and the smoke order removed within the week. It was the remodel where the major problems began showing up. The fire itself was limited, only requiring one room to be repaired. That said, it took *seven* weeks start to finish to repair the one room; we were constantly given excuses - they had other jobs going on, the drywall person couldn't make it that day, etc. It was frustrating to say the least to wait that long for the room to be repaired and to have it communicated to us that we were that far down the priority list. The quality of the repair was also shoddy. There are broken patches in the drywall, the paint was not even applied in spots resulting in a lack of color consistency. Most significant, after being informed that because of the radiant heat in the ceiling, the electrician had said not to interfere with it and rather just hang a new ceiling on (thus lowering the clearance) we came back to find that the ceiling HAD been messed with. Thankfully we caught it in time and no harm had been done to the radiant heat system, but still, it should not have happened. Lastly, there were issues with the customer service. The actual workers on site were pleasant, and the receptionist was always pleasant. But my few interactions with the general manager resulted in her getting short and very surly with me, and insulting my insurance agent, saying he didn't know how the insurance process worked (which was patently false). remaining calm with such an unpleasant person was a difficult task at best. in short, if you need restoration after a disaster, this company proved okay to work with. when it comes to their quality as a contractor, RUN in the opposite direction and spare yourself the migraine-level headache.
