Surprisingly affordable resort and celebrity hangout.
  • Mountain Suites and Homes
  • Special Packages
  • Sundance Studios
Rustically elegant accommodations allow visitors to wake up to the splendor of a mountain morning in the comfort of their own suite, complete with living and dining rooms, large kitchens, fireplaces or wood burning stoves. The Native American-inspired Spa utilizes ancient traditions and organic products to further relax and rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. Watch the moon climb over Utah's Mt. Timpanogos from your cottage patio, or enjoy a fireside dinner with new-found friends in a mountain home, and you'll begin to appreciate what Sundance is all about. To understand what's here, you need to spend time in the beautiful spaces and the rustic interior of our cottage lodging community, just as you must spend time on the trails and slopes of the mountain to fully experience this wilderness preserve. The quietude here contrasts sharply with the bustle found at most Utah ski resorts.

Editorial Review for Sundance
Surprisingly affordable resort and celebrity hangout.

The Scene
Built on the east slopes of Mount Timpanagos and owned by mega-star Robert Redford, the expansive Sundance resort is its own mountain community, featuring accommodations, recreation, retailers and restaurants befitting high-wattage guests. The 6,000-acre complex is uncrowded by design, with limited parking and a structural layout geared toward integrating the natural surroundings instead of overwhelming them. Upwardly mobile families and outdoorsy types visit Sundance year-round, though ski season and festival time are the peaks.

The Details
Lodging options at Sundance range from studio rooms and suites to multi-bedroom homes. All accommodations feature "elegantly rustic" decor (more the former than the latter), and many have fireplaces, stunning views and varying degrees of kitchen utilities. Guests have access to the resort's Artisan Center for art classes, General Store, spa and seasonal activities, such as mountain biking in summer and skiing in winter. The award-winning Tree Room tops Sundance's dining opportunities.

Insider Tips
The Extras

Ratings & Reviews of Sundance
  1. Best ski ticket around by Emily B. at InsiderPages
This ski resort will not break the bank for the entire family! We have been skiing here since I was little. The resort offered almost as much as any higher-class resort, it's just a little smaller and cozier! The views are beautiful and everyone is so friendly. It is a scary drive up the mountain if there's bad weather, so be careful! (Citysearch User, 02/06/2008)

  2. Disappointing
The condos at sundance are showing their age. Our recent stay included a shower door that would not close, worn toilet seat, small television that would not function correctly, and someone else's dirty socks discarded on the hot tub cover. Not what one would expect for $250. Servers at breakfast were cordial at best. (utahcritic, 11/21/2005)

  3. Pamper Yourself!
Sundance is the perfect romantic getaway! The rooms are cozy and the service is fantastic. The restaurants offer the most unique and romantic atmosphere in Utah. Sundance may not be a budget vacation but we always leave feeling like it was money well spent. We've found that the best time to stay at Sundance is in the spring and fall, when they still have a lot of recreational and cultural activities, but at discounted prices. (bkpogi, 11/17/2002)

  4. Unsurpassed
Sundance is one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever visited. The service is unsurpassed and the food is to die for. Once you have arrived, there is no reason to leave. The activities are endless, hiking, horseback riding, art classes, summer theatre, mountain biking, fly fishing and lots more in the summer. In the winter, the alpine skiing is a well kept secret and the nordic skiing is the best. You can even nordic ski at night. If you love peace and quiet in a rustic setting in one of the most beautiful canyons in the world, you must visit Sundance. You won't be sorry!! (cknoll, 08/08/2002)

  5. love those sundance bars!
The cookies and pastries at Sundance are so scrumptious! I have never had a less-than-extraordinary dessert/baked item there, as a matter of fact! When I've been lucky enough to feast at their Sunday Brunch, I find myself filling up on the pastries and breads and having little room left for the other excellent dishes. My respect and admiration to their Pastry Chef! (Nana_Joanna, 07/23/2002)
